The Austrian Geotechnical Conference (AGC) was held for the first time in 1997, initiated by the Austrian Society of Engineers and Architects (ÖIAV), which represents the Austrian National Commitee of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), and was held biennially ever since. 2024 we are happy to invite you to its 13th edition and are now proud to say that it has since become not only an established conference but an integral part of the industry as it is the major fair and meeting point for geotechnics and well construction in Austria.
The highlight of the AGC is the "Vienna - Terzaghi Lecture", in which internationally renowned geotechnical engineers shed light on the most important professional aspects in the field.
Another high point of the Geotechnical Conference is the presentation of the Austrian Foundation Engineering Award which was first presented in 1997 honours young geotechnical engineers for their exceptional scientific work or dissertations related to the field.
Historical Background
The 10th Austrian Geotechnical Conference was one of the fist items on the agenda within the framework of festivities for the 200th anniversary of the Vienna University of Technology which was established in 1815 and is one of the oldest institutions in higher education in the field of technical engineering.
Organisation
The organisation of the event is managed by the Association of Austrian Drilling, Well Construction and Specialised Civil Engineering Enterprises (VÖBU) in cooperation with Austrian Society for Engineers and Architects (ÖIAV), Austrian National Commiteee of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering of the Vienna University of Technology.
The 14th Austrian Geotechnical Conference will again take place as a cooperative event with the 13th VÖBU FAIR, an expert exhibition of VÖBU held at the MESSE WIEN CONGRESS CENTER. This cooperation has been proven to work splendidly as it presents participants, exhibitors and guest an ideal synergy between theory and practice as well as research and implementation.
